  • Usher samples Notorious BIG's classic "One More Chance" on his new # 1 album

Usher envokes the essence of the late Christopher Wallace on his new project once again. Usher was only 19 when he released his breakout single “You Make Me Wanna…” Now 15 years, seven Grammys, and two kids later, the R&B superstar reinvents himself with his seventh album "Looking 4 Myself". Usher secures his fourth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 as Looking 4 Myself debuts atop the list with 128,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The project combines elements of R&B, pop, dance, hip-hop, and electro, with production from diverse hitmakers including Diplo, Pharrell, Salaam Remi, Rico Love, Max Martin, and more.

Track number 9 entitled, "What Happened To U" invokes its B.I.G. interpretation. The song was produced by Noah "40" Shebib. This is rapper Drake's go-to producer extraordinaire. The track samples the late great Notorious B.I.G. classic anthem, "One More Chance/Stay With Me". Usher is singing about all his accomplishments and accolades and despite it all, there's a special girl he has lost.

Usher performs a subtler, satisfying trick on “What Happened To U,” spinning a typically downtempo beat from Noah “40” Shebib into the album’s smoothest seduction. The track toy with electronic textures while resisting the full-throttle thump of contemporary dance-pop, though there’s some of that on the rest of the album aswell.
