LOS ANGELES - A new team of Los Angeles Police Department detectives will investigate the 1997 murder of rapper Notorious B.I.G. No one has ever been held accountable for the killing. L A federal judge awarded the family of the rapper, born Christopher Wallace, just over a million dollars earlier this year because of claims the prosecution held back evidence.

Notorious B.I.G. was gunned down after a record industry party at the Petersen Automotive Museum at the age of 24. While several claims have been made, authorities say there is no evidence that police had a role in the murder.
