  • MLB player Jose Valverde goes by the nick "Papa Grande" (Big Poppa in Latin) and warms up to B.I.G.

    MLB
(Major League Baseball) player for the Arizona, Diamond Backs named Jose Valverde, goes by the nick name of Papa Grande which literally means "Big Poppa" in latin. Ironically, due to the similarity's in nicknames but in different
languages: "The highly superstitious Valverde, known affectionately as "Papa Grande," enters to the soulful, bluesy beat of "Big Poppa," by late rapper Notorious B.I.G., lulling the fans here into guarded complacency."

"Born in El Seibo, Dominican Republic, he stands 6'4" tall and weighs 255 lbs. He has a wife and a newborn girl. When José enters into the game, the song "Big Poppa" by Notorious B.I.G. is played. Because many children and youth attend his games the words are not played."
