Here’s Alicia Keys on the May cover of Blender mag, in which she shares her theories on the why gangsta rap created. When asked about the Notorious B.I.G.and her profession of appreciation for his music, she named "Me and My Bitch" as being her favorite song of his. But when further pressed on the topic of gangster rap, Keys went on to say “‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. ‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.” She says that the rivalry between slain artists Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. was fueled “by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing.” |
