If you don't understand what's going on here, I've got a story to tell. Notorious B.I.G. had a song on his second and final album, 1997's Life After Death, called "I Got A Story To Tell," in which he... well... tells a story. He was having an affair with the girlfriend/wife of a player on the Knicks, and one day, when that player came home Biggie and his significant other were in the bedroom. After a brief moment of panic, Biggie formulates a plan: he ties her up, makes it look like a robbery, and then holds up the player at gunpoint. He leaves with a wad of cash and the athlete doesn't realize he was cheated on. But he never identifies the player, only saying it was "one of them 6'5 n****s."
Whether this story is true or not, we'll probably never know. However, Bomani Jones, who has established himself as the world's No. 1 journalist in the field of "I Got A Story To Tell" research, had this to say: "btw, we’ve had a couple of people tell us unequivocally biggie wasn’t talking about hubert davis. take that for what it’s worth."
Jones had previously asked 1990's Knick John Starks about the song, with Starks acknowledging that it was true while denying it was about himself.
