Rucker told Dan Patrick the story after Patrick urged him to write a book about all his road stories. Apparently, The Blowfish life was all kinds of lit, because Rucker refuses to write a book until his son turns 18. Patrick asked if Rucker ever met up with Notorious B.I.G., and Rucker explained how their meeting at the Grammys led to a line in Biggie’s hit song.
“We were at the Grammys… and some really hot girl walks by. One of his boys was like, ‘I’ll pay her,’ just as a joke. I go. ‘Man, I’m not paying for it.’ We laughed and then his next record, he’s got a line that goes. ‘Stay humble, stay low, blow like Hootie/True pimp n*ggas spend no dough on the booty.’ Great line.”
