• Johnny Depp to star as detective investigating Notorious BIG murder

After months of investigating their deaths, Poole came to the conclusion that a group of “gangsta cops” in his own force were behind the shooting of Notorious B.I.G, who’s real name was Christopher Wallace, while Death Row Records and the Bloods Street gang were also involved.

After confronting the LAPD police chief about the shootings, the investigator protested by going into early retirement.

Shakur was shot dead while being driven down the Las Vegas strip by head of Death Row Records, Marion “Suge” Knight, in 1996. He was 25 years old.

Six months later, Wallace was also killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles at 24.

While the police never solved the murders, countless conspiracy theories have emerged over the years.

Depp’s new film has been written by Christian Contreas, who adapted LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records’ Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal.

Meanwhile Brad Furman, the man behind The Lincoln Lawyer, Blade Runner and The Infiltrator, will direct the film.
