  • Dame Dash Reveals That B.I.G Intended To Sign With Roc-A-Fella

In an alternate future, the Notorious B.I.G. would have been rapping alongside Jay-Z on Roc-A-Fella Records. On the day of Biggie's birthday, the hip-hop community celebrated his legacy, which was tragically brought to an untimely end on March 9th, 1997. Now, a recent reflection from Dame Dash has us wondering what might have been.

During an interview with Vlad TV, Dame reflects on the honor of being name-dropped by B.I.G, especially given the premature nature of the rapper's death. For those wondering, the line in question is "Say my name, I'll make you dash like Dame," off Biggie's "I Love The Dough." Clearly, the relationship was on solid footing, and while Big was signed to Bad Boy Records at the time, Dame confirms that there were indeed other plans in the works. Plans that would have ultimately seen Biggie joining the likes of Jay-Z, Cam'Ron, Beanie Sigel, and more.

"Biggie’s plan was give Puff and them like three more albums then come sign with us, and we was gon’ do The Commission," reveals Dame. "That was what was gonna happen, or at least that’s what was talked about very seriously. I think that’s why he did a double album. He was gonna do a triple album, and he was gonna be out his contract, and then he was gonna come fuck with us. I tried to sign The Firm but then Steve Stoute snaked us for that.”

Say what you will about the man, but Dame Dash is a legend out there. Playing pivotal roles in the careers of Jigga, DMX, and Ja Rule, it's crazy to imagine what might have been were Biggie to have joined the ranks of Roc-A-Fella Records during the height of their glory.
