The New York City native also sat down with Kimmel for a chat about her new autobiography, More Myself, which details her personal journey in the music industry and beyond. As she explains to her host, “We’re all on a journey, so how do you find your way to your authentic self? It’s just a question we’re all trying to answer.”
Keys began the rollout of her seventh studio album this past September with the release of “Show Me Love” featuring Miguel. Keys also premiered a “visual sonic installation” to accompany the powerful song. The video is a compilation of slow-motion, one-shot scenes to portray a representation of love’s endless journey. As Keys told Billboard, “I have been on this journey to be more vulnerable; in my life, in my music; and this new visual experience reflects this time,” said the New York City native. “Show me loves displays different expressions of love, the journey of it, the push and pull, the struggle and the eventual joy and peace.”
For her Kimmel performance, Keys performed “Show Me Love” as well as a cover of The late great Notorious B.I.G.‘s “Juicy”, a nod to the local Brooklyn hero. You can watch the performance below:
