During his unexpected Netflix stand-up special released on December 19, 2025, immediately following the Anthony Joshua–Jake Paul boxing event, Dave Chappelle offered commentary that extended beyond comedy into historical and sociocultural reflection. In this performance, Chappelle referenced Christopher Wallace—professionally known as The Notorious B.I.G.—and stated that a “Hip Hop Task Force” had been established to monitor Wallace and Sean Combs. Chappelle further asserted that he himself was also subject to surveillance by this task force during the late 1990s. These claims were presented as personal recollections and observations, framed within a broader critique of institutional scrutiny directed at prominent figures within hip-hop culture during that period.
